"Working with Dale is a
complete delight. Combining both compassionate sensitivity, to help me
with the creative process; and goal setting to work with my aims, Dale
helped me unearth my submerged creativity while coaching me toward a
business around my art work. I encourage anyone, who wants to bring more
creativity into their live, or doesn't think they are an artist or knows
that they are but are struggling, to work with Dale. She is a treat!"
J.C., Arts Administrator and
Artist
"Dale was my coaching companion
during a successful job search that lasted a year. It was my first experience
with a coach. For me a job search is like being on a roller coaster. Dale
was with me through all the highs and lows with encouragement, support, and
ideas. She reminded me that during a job search we become clearer about what
we're looking for. And I did. I realized that I wasn't just looking to use
my skills and experience, What was important for me to work in a particular
kind of environment as well - perhaps even more important than the job
itself."
K.K., Program Coordinator
"I learned that there is such a thing as a compassionate witness, both in
myself and available in others. I am applying this to my work as a therapist
and it changes the way I work."
Suzy Clark, Therapist
"I look forward to every conversation I have with Dale. She is warm,
intuitive, and fun. Her gentle prodding pushes me forward when I feel stuck.
Her bursts of inspiration excite me to reach further than I thought
possible. Her belief in my potential gives me the strength and courage to
seek an alternative path for my life. Through my work with Dale, new doors
are opening in my life."
S.M.,
Employee Development Coordinator
"Dale helped me focus my artistic work by reacquainting me with open-ended
creative thinking, emotional investigations, and the pleasures of
exploration and playfulness that made me want to be an artist in the first
place. Her guidance leads me right to the heart of what matters. Dale helps
me trust myself."
L.P., Professional Artist
"Working with Dale had a kind of
value I had not discovered before. Dale's creative approach allowed me to get
in touch with aspects of my gifts and talents that were untapped. I so
appreciate Dale's gentle yet powerful presence and guidance."

The Impact of Creativity
Coaching in my Life - Jan Ferris, Therapist 9/20/04
"How did it happen that the small creative artist who nearly "died" back
in Kindergarten is coming back to life again, after so many years? The
simple pleasure of placing one color beside another, or mixing several
colors in unplanned strokes, is the reconnection to my "artist within ".
Unexpected joy is released.
I thank the serendipitous good fortune to have attended a Gateways workshop
four years ago lead by Dale Schwarz and Gullermo Cuellar. There I started
back on my journey to self expression in art. I found an environment
enfolding my naive and tentative, wannabe creative side with acceptance and
a safety I'd not known before. Because the experience was about play and
process, and pleasure, and not about production and performance, IT
WAS FUN!!!
Following this simple yet profound experience, I continued working
with Dale in the two year Creativity in Action Program. My art has
become my dream images, externalized. I paint, and then I see what such
language, in color and images, tell me about my deeper urgings. One day as
I sat at work looking at a plant I'd had for years in my office, I had a
full blown "knowing" that when that plant hits the ceiling, I have to be out
of here, or something in me will die." I knew if I spoke these words aloud
to someone, it would become reality. Scarier yet, when I painted this
internal image, a tree contained in a too small box, curling down into
itself, I knew the change was already happening. It's taken three years to
manifest in actuality. I now have left a thriving business in an area I've
known and lived for 25 years, I am, in a new location far from "home"
embarking on a year of freedom and exploration before I know just where I'll
next land.
Once again the artwork becomes a guidepost. Besides the simple pleasures I
get from working with color, in and of itself, I look into the artwork and
begin to see shaping and guidance towards where my inner callings are taking
me, and what they are trying to say.
The coaching with Dale has been instrumental in helping me take these
messages seriously. I believe in the wisdom of the unconscious at work in
the creative process. But I still need reminding that it is real and valid.
Dale gives me that. But more than any other aspect of this work I am deeply
grateful for the re-nurturing support of my own creative process (I'd
thought I didn't have one!). I believe in it now. And I thank Dale for the
enrichment it brings to my life."
Business Program Participants
"It was amazing to watch the evolution of
the group. It began as a static group of strangers, and via the
creative process we transformed into a vibrant, colorful, dynamic
and fluid group."
"I think the
entire organization should be involved in these sessions!"
"It was worth my time away from my "busy schedule" to sit back and
think about what I can do to help myself succeed as a team member."
"I think the world would be a better place if these sessions were
mandatory all the way up the corporate ladder."
"Women Creating" Retreat Participants
"The Women's Retreat Day was a
major catalyst for growth and change. It triggered significant
transitions in my life. The art is a direct route to my soul."
Y. M. Psychologist/ Educator
"I would like to come to the retreat 3 or 4 times a year because it takes me
out of my normal routine and gives me space to create. Dale is very
compassionate and conscious about each woman's needs."
AJ, Financial Advisor
"Dale is skillful, wise, creative
and competent. At her workshop, it was easy to trust myself, the group, the
leadership and the creative process."
M.R. , Consultant
"This was a
remarkable gift to self - of time, play, discover, community and creative
possibility."
"I learned a lot about
myself in new ways...I got clarity about a number of questions I'd been
asking myself."
